Wounded Warrior – Derek McConnell

I know I haven't updated this blog in a while but I wanted to tell you all about a special project.

Yesterday I found out about a wounded soldier on the Homefront Blog from Operation Write Home. He was stationed in Afghanistan in March 2011 and on July 23rd 2011, he lost both legs due to an IED. You can read more of his story here

OWH asked us to send cards of encouragement to him. So today I made him a card and I plan on mailing it out tomorrow.

This is the card I made.

I wrote this quote in the card, it’s the one I like out of all the ones I found.

“When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.”  ~Harriet Beecher Stowe

Upgrating the blog

Well I think I finally have this whole blog thing down. Well at least the customizing part anyway.

Let me explain.

For the past few months I've been looking a different peoples blogs and wondering how they've added a About Me or Contact Me page. And today I did a little more research and finally figured out how to add pages.

Man do I feel dumb, it's been right underneath my nose the whole time. If you go to your Dashboard and click on Edit Posts and at the top of the page underneath settings is the Edit Pages and that is where you can add different pages to your blog.

So I added a Say Hello page, About Me page and a Photo Gallery Page.

Check them out if you're interested!

Crafting it forward

Friday I found a great organization via my Etsy Paper team called Operation Write Home.

They get crafters from all across the U.S. to make handmade cards and send them to their shippers who in turn ship them out to deployed heroes, so they have something to write home on.

I just got started yesterday making cards to send out. So far I've got 16. But I plan on making more this week.

If you'd like to know more about this organization please check out their website above. If you're not into making cards you could always write a note thanking our heroes, make a donation or pass along this information to a friend or family member that does make cards.

Thanks for reading and I hope everyone has a good night.

So as of yesterday I decided to add a sale section to my shop. Everything in it so far is anywhere 30% to 50% off. As time goes by I'll probably add a few more things to it. Check it out here. And let me know if you think I priced my items well.

Have a great weekend!

St. Patrick's Day Cards.

I just finished posting all my St. Patrick's Day cards and it's in less than a week.
Irish Blessing Card

I got a little bit behind for this holiday, but starting tomorrow I'll get going on posting my Easter cards. I always have trouble with my descriptions, that's what usually takes the longest for me.

What's the hardest part for you?

A new idea...

Yesterday...or was it Monday?... Anyway, a couple days ago or so I decided to start making custom coupon booklets. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, take a look at my listing here:
I made the decision because I’ve had over 170 views on the coupon booklet above. I figure if I offer custom ones maybe I’ll actually get a sale! J
Now, I know I say on my policies section that I have a limited supply and I still do but I figure the customer can get in touch with me via my e-mail (theicedragon16@gmail.com) and we can chat and I can let them know what colors (Black/ Blues/ Reds/ Purples/ Greens/ Pinks/ Etc.) and stamps I have and can also send them pictures of the stamps as well.
I really hoping this idea will help boost my sales since I’ve only had one so far!
Let me know if you think this idea is good or not. I’d love to get some feedback!

The Making of "Elegant Purple In My Thoughts Today" card

I started off by stamping and embossing "Just to let you know you're in my thoughts today" on light purple metalic paper in black ink.

This is a closer shot of it.

This is the background part way finished.

I really like using the different shade of purple on the dark purple paper. It make it look like the paper came like that.

I used a light purple, dark purple and a maroonish color ink.

Here I was debating which way to set it up. I used a white metalic paper, which had crimped dark metalic purple paper on top of that and the "Just to let you know you're in my thoughts today" on that.

Here I was thinking of maybe turning the dark metalic purple paper..

And here is the finished product:

Tell me what you think!

And check out more photos and where to buy it here:

Coupon Booklet for men

Yesterday I made a coupon book to sell in my shop.

It came out great! I was really excited. Took me a bit to make it but I think it was well worth my time.
I’m really happy I went out to Michaels to get some more “manlier” paper. Haha. Now all I need to do is get some more “manlier” stamps and I’ll be all set!

Business Cards

Yesterday I finally order real business cards from www.vistaprint.com. They give you 250 business cards for free and all you have to pay for is shipping. You get the basic designs and can’t change where you put things but there are ways to work around it and plus, it’s free, I really can’t complain.
I really like the design I picked out. I wish the background was black instead of white cause I’m not much a fan of white but I like it none the less.
Anyway, I wanna hear what you think about it..

The Ice Dragon Comes To Life!

I love to make handmade items from paper and rubber stamps, anything from greeting cards (which is my specialty), bookmarks, gift tags, small gift bags and anything else my imagination comes up with!

I don’t really know what it is but working with my hands always calms me down and puts me in a happy mood. So everything I make is infused with good vibes/ karma. I only sell items that I truly love and that I think I did a good job on. No one wants to buy shoddy work and I especially don’t want anyone to see it let alone buy it!

If you like anything I sell but have a different idea on how you would like it please feel free to contact me via Etsy or theicedragon16@gmail.com and hopefully we can come together and I can create what’s in your head.
